Myles and Patty Owens, Raleigh, NC
Myles and Patty have owned and operated Educational Outfitters of Raleigh, NC since its opening in 2003. Myles and patty Owens are originally from Ohio both doing their undergraduate studies at The Ohio State University. They moved all over the US with their prior employers until landing in Raleigh, NC. Both have had senior position in various fortune 500 companies and have owned and sold other small businesses. The Owens have 3 children ages 20, 15, and 11 and are very active in the Raleigh Dioceses. Myles holds a BA in Rhetorical Theory, a JD in Law, a PhD in International Business, an Executive MBA certificate (Harvard Business School), and serves as an Adjunct Professor of Business at the University of Phoenix. His passion is his family and coaching. Myles and Patty Owens’ Educational Outfitters franchise is the currently the largest school uniform retail location in the United States.
Brad and Stephanie Duncan, Knoxville, TN
Brad and Stephanie have owned and operated Educational Outfitters of Knoxville since 2003. In addition to working at the store, Brad and Stephanie enjoy spending time with their family, attending church and many sporting events with their children, spending time at the lake, and working on home improvement projects. Brad is also a full-time electrical engineer with Emerson Process Management. His extended family is long-time Knoxville natives, with his relatives being among the first families to settle Knoxville. Duncan Boat Dock is owned by Brad’s Great-uncle, Ben Duncan, and is a favorite local spot to fish and swap stories. Stephanie is a graduate of University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and Brad graduated from Christian Brothers University in Memphis. Brad and Stephanie have 3 children, Ben, an entering 5th grader and very active athlete and Boy Scout, Whit, a lively 5 year old, and Samantha, a sweet 2 year old who basically runs the house.
John Clark, Chattanooga, TN, and Huntsville, AL
John is a long-time resident and owner of the Chattanooga franchise. He acquired the Chattanooga franchise in the spring of 2005, and his territories include, Chattanooga, the surrounding areas of Cleveland and North Georgia, and Huntsville, AL, which he opened in 2007. Prior to Educational Outfitters, John’s professional experience included years in the textile and manufacturing industry. John holds a BA from Hampdon Sydney and an MBA from Averett College. He has two children, Jeremy and Ashly. Ashley is a graduate of Girls Preparatory School and the University of Missouri, and Jeremy is a graduate of the University of Mississippi. Jeremy currently runs embroidery and technology for Educational Outfitters of Chattanooga.
Donna and Sam Gragg, San Diego, CA
Donna and Sam have owned and operated Educational Outfitters of San Diego since opening in 2005. They are celebrating their 10th year in 2015 with a significant expansion of their store in La Mesa. Donna and Sam have been married since 1978. They are natives of San Diego and have lived in various places around the world before returning to San Diego to start up the franchise there.
Vickey Wegener, Lansing, MI
Vickey has owned and operated Educational Outfitters of Lansing since its opening in 2006, serving the Central Michigan area. She and her husband, Mike, have 2 children, both in college Mike also owns and operates a gift and book store in the same building.
Jeanine Kadrie, Pittsburgh, PA
Tony and Jeanine have owned and operated Educational Outfitters of Pittsburgh since its opening in 2008. They live in the South Hills area of Pittsburgh in South Fayette Township, with Jeanine’s sons Zack and Brandon. Jeanine operates the daily functions of their store with invaluable assistance from Tony, who is also employed by Bank Capital Services as an Equipment Leasing Representative. Jeanine’s professional experience includes experience serving as an Account Manager for a software sales company and a Relationship Manager for a financial institution in the automotive industry. Sheila Stein, who serves as the store’s assistant manager, is a master seamstress and brings over ten years of embroidery experience. As Jeanine puts it, “the Pittsburgh store just feels like family. Although some of the employees there are family, many are not. Don’t be surprised if you stop by and find someone dancing at the checkout. Feel free to join in.”
Mary and Dan Gordon, Nebraska
Mary and Dan opened Educational Outfitters of Nebraska in the summer of 2009. Dan has spent his professional career working in sales and marketing, both as an individual contributor and as an executive manager. His professional experience includes working in a large advertising agency working with some of the nation’s most recognized brands and retailers, and he has spent the last 11 years in the call center and outsourcing industry. Dan’s interests outside of work include volunteering, coaching soccer and athletics as a martial arts black belt and a finisher of multiple Ironman triathlons. Mary is a licensed speech pathologist working in both clinical and private care settings. After working at a local hospital helping patients recover their speech, language, and communication abilities, Mary left the corporate world to stay at home with her and Dan’s kids. She spent numerous years leading local charitable organizations before deciding to buy the Nebraska franchise. Mary now spends her time building her business and chasing her kids to their activities. With her very little spare time, Mary enjoys outdoor activities including running, biking, and gardening.
